My story, One Parent Survives, is live! Buy the anthology or subscribe or free trial Kindle Unlimited now! Read and review! WRITE IN ALL CAPS! Mention me by name. If you’re feeling feisty, feel free to mock and minimize and mistreat because this early in my writing career I still feel all publicity is good publicity! If you’re feeling generous, please praise and applaud and persuade online browsers to purchase, because of course I will be hitting refresh on the Customer Reviews for the next month looking for my name to be mentioned.
I’m continuing to write a short story a month, editing, sharing to beta readers, editing some more, and when I feel they’re special - submitting them to various dream publications. I’m still working on my “Ghost with a Boner” story, which I hope will be the text equivalent of one of the longer, dirgier Cure songs (so, sad and beautiful). I’m also working on a short story and a non-fiction piece about those wandering beings dressed as humans that never die (see also: Neil Gaiman’s Sandman comics or Netflix show). Also, trying my hand at a crime fiction short (of the betrayed lover sort) and hoping to open and revisit my yuletide slasher.
What are you working on?
October has really kicked me and my family in the lungs. The start of the month was filled with dread and worry and fear of parenting failure because of my first grader’s poor academic performance compared to her peers. (She’s catching up now). Then my son got sick, which meant many nights holding his head so he could sleep. Then my other son got sick. Then an ear infection. Then my daughter got sick. Then my wife got sick. Then I got sick. I’m still coughing, actually. But tonight? Tonight! You have no idea how excited I am to take my children Trick or Treating. It’s my kids’ first traditional Halloween in the United States! It will be their first time going door to door, ringing doorbells, seeing other kids on the street in costumes, filling a big bag of candy. We’ll walk several blocks to the local park, where there’s a Halloween bonfire.
I hope your Halloween celebration is wonderful, too! Full of ghouls and tombs and smiling teeth and so much sugar!
If you’re new, you may have missed my Halloween Memories - perhaps the best post I’ve written and what I hope more of my future posts will resemble.
First time tonight!????!!! Wow what a treat! Have fun!!
Thanks for the tip to read. Cool anthology. I read and reviewed your story. Nice job!
