Have you listened to the new Beatles song? It’s no “I’m Only Sleeping,” but it’s not bad. On second or third listen, I’m beginning to really dig the ‘now and then I miss you,’ chorus. Play on repeat, try not to cry, digging it. And knowing it’s sung by a dead man, who is still loved by millions, and loved even more by his two remaining bandmates, one of whom plays slide guitar for the solo because that’s what George would have played were he here with them to finish the track? Honestly, the backstory threatens to overwhelm the actual song! I can’t hear it without thinking of my own lost friends and my kids who keep asking me not to leave on my upcoming work trip and the precious brevity of life and how there’s never ever ever enough time.
