I love this. I've caught my daughter reading by her fairy lights long after tuck in on so many occasions and it makes my heart dance every time. ❤️Both my kids are incredibly forthright with their feelings and their mistakes, which we try to nurture as much as possible. My son recently admitted he was watching YouTube videos in his room after bedtime. This is a big no-no in our house, and we did take away his in-room internet privileges which crushed him to an out-of-proportion degree. But we just kept reiterating how proud we were of him for coming clean about it. I don't know how parents with lying children manage. I hope ours stay honest for a long time.

Enjoy your dad high, Wil. 🙂

When they were babies, I foolishly thought, I hope they grow up distrusting authority. Now, nonstop I plead, why won’t you listen to me!!

They hear you, though. The listening is just on a delay. It'll click it at the right time. At least that's what I tell myself. 😂

My buddy has a family charging station in their living room where all devices must be plugged in overnight. I love the idea, but know my wife and I cannot currently role model leaving our phones beside their iPads. We know we’d be so much happier! 😭

Do it! We started doing this last year and it makes a huge difference. You don't need the phones next to your bed! You don't! I promise!

Sweet little mutinies! May there be many and may some of them make us a little uncomfortable ...it’s a rite of passage! I remind myself that I turned out (perhaps more than) ok :-)

Small triumphs! This is hard to keep short but I’ll try...

My son was born in France, was schooled from an early age only in French but we spoke English at home, I read to him in English and French but deliberately held back on teaching English grammar knowing the trickeries involved in the French. By age five, after two years of schooling, he still refused to speak French although understood every word... by the end of that year his Directrice was worried, suggested special help... I spoke to him about this (gently of course) his reply, I was waiting for them to speak English Mummy.!

There’s more but I won’t bore you, suffice to say by age six he could read, write and speak both languages!

Like I say, small triumphs... I know that glowing feeling....

Well, my heart just exploded.

How old is your girl? Our oldest just turned five two days ago, and this sort of miracle still seems a ways off.
