Please surprise me, but rumor is that in the crowd of sign-wavers there is a 9th grader whose parents refuse permission to attend school dances but encourage her to attend protests - but what the parents don't know is that Eduardo Shinyjacket personally invited her to the protest; because in addition to being the most handsome boy at school, he is also the most passionate, just not about bank bailouts or CEO bonuses.

Well... That's a compelling opening with a lot of seeds for the next in the chain to explore! And one hell of a final line. And now I have to look up lead and cadmium in dark chocolate. That's a depressing thought. The biggest tragedy so far... 😉
Holy smokes! Well done, Wil. Glad to see Kate is managing to uphold the silver lining challenge despite the deck being stacked against her. I actually really like how her and Eric bond over those sort of challenges. It's an interesting detail that makes their relationship memorable. That and the fact that they have a bank robbing son, of course.
Oh wow! 🤩😱🤓 I only just stumbled into the world of Substack and was pointed to Fictionistas as my first recommendation last week, so I know nothing about this project and almost nothing of the authors.
Yet. 😈
Y’all do such groovy stuff on this platform, and in this group especially! What a way to kick this thing off!!! *pant-pant-pant* Zooming onward!
Thanks Alexx! And welcome! Also, I haven’t had time to participate yet, but Fictionistas does a monthly flash prompt that seems like a good way to meet other writers!
I saw that! I did participate in their monthly 1000 word fiction, to heart-warming response. My intro to Substack has been interrupted by some annoying health crap, but every time I am able to get back on here, I keep finding more to love about it. Thanks for the welcome! I think I'm here to stay.
But can it get much worse? I... I think it can. Awesome start to the challenge!
Yes! And I can’t wait to read how! Thanks!
Dayum. That last line tho.
Thanks!
I've big shoes to fill
Thanks! I can't wait to see where you take it!
my thinking cap is on
great start Wil
So much. Too much. MUCH MUCH MUCH!!!!! ❤️🔥

Oh, Wil.
If you want to listen to the music I listened to while writing/editing, the first 9 songs of this playlist were my on repeat soundtrack: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5Xr7RaYtveCA4GExRJptyS?si=am8Itv6qQHWKDgnGS_XYBg
What a cracker-jack start!!! Loved this Wil! Thanks for getting us off to this rocket ride. Now I'm truly nervous :-)

Yeah I read that. Sigh.
Cadmium causes lung cancer? Screw it, I'm dumb enough to be a smoker. I'ma gonna eat ALL the chocolate!
Way to start things off! To all the writers, good luck with the challenge!
